In picking my first book on astrology off the shelf in 1969, DaneRudyar's The Astrology of Personality , I was awoken to this language ofsymbols, a particular lens through which I view myself and all the world about me. This language was at once so familiar I couldn't help but think I must have used it in one or many previous lives. However, it was the experience of living the language, of immersing myself in it, that has taught me it's meaning. The symbols have come alive for me through direct experience seeing what happens as planetary transits impact my chart as well as those close to me and those for whom I've done readings over the years, as well as the interaction between people who act as triggers for each other's planetary placements.
Having been a theatre major in college, astrodrama appealed to me. In astrodrama we play the role of the planets in people's charts using costumes when possible. In 1986, shortly after I returned to my family home south of Tucson, I joined the Tucson Astrologer's Guild and became one of the Astroplayers, a group formed out of members who enjoyed the improvisational acting in astrodrama and even performed a few written scripts for community cable programming and UAC, based on astrology. What fun that was and what a great way to experience astrology! Although I don'thave the opportunity to engage in it very often at present I still enjoy astrodrama and being an active member of the Tucson Astrologers' Guild (currently serving on the steering circle)
