The Tarot
Tarot cards have been around since the 1400's, but they weren't used for divination until the 1700's. The Rider Waite deck was published in 1910 by Rider and Company. This deck was a collaboration by artist Pamela Colman-Smith and mystic Arthur Waite. Although there are hundreds of different decks-the Ryder Waite deck remains the most commonly used.
Tarot cards consist of 22 Major Arcana cards that cover the big ideas in life. The Minor Arcana consists of four suits: Wands, Pentacles, Swords and Cups. They are numbered ace through ten and have four court cards. These are life lessons.
All the cards have beautiful symbols on them. They have general meanings but the great Tarot reader uses the meaning, the layout and their intuition to get to the real meaning!
